Default Who's got info on: 2002 HX (d17a6) Motor?

Doing a search but I know I won't find much.

Hp? ANything? I doubt it's much more than 125 anyway.

Hit me up if you know anything about it.

Biggest thing I want to know is if I can bolt up a d16z6 tranny up to it and use that.

c'mon now Civic Hx-T. i know you've been here long enough to do your own searches. as for the z6 tranny, i dont know. i'm assuming it will be better to get a tranny for a 01+ EX.

Okay found some info on it.

117 Hp
111 T/q
And that stupid V/T Tranny.

1.7 liter ehhh...

I wonder if I can --

A) Bolt up a d16y8/z6 intake manifold and throttle body.
B) Bolt up the d16z6 Transmission.
C) Run that whole motor off an obd1 harness.

... Hm hm hm. HX. >

What's up Archi!

Where'd you hear that from?

I'm not doubting that someone on these boards has screwed with a d17... time to scour.

It sucks that... the newer version of the HX has less HP than the one before it. ( i.e 97+)

I saw a post either on this board or linked from this board where a guy slapped a smallish turbo on an otherwise stock D17A6 and pulled out some impressive numbers on 8 or 10psi. I'll try and find it for you since you seem to be having a rough week .

LMfao. Yeah I really am having a rough *** week. I can't seem to figure out why either. I'm just kinda going with the flow and being stupid.

I really want to see if I could bolt up that tranny and Intake manifold. I'd think so for only one simple fact. -- They're all still D series motors.

I don't think that the newer motors would be so different from the older ones besides what we already know ( vtec solenoid, tranny gears, etc ).

Thanks for searching for it y0. I want to see those numbers and what motor it was on.

If you search for d17 turbo it should bring up about 10 topics. From what I gathered, the Ex version of the D17A puts down about 200whp at 8psi, which is a nice, streetable setup that should be good for low 14's to mid 13's depending on the driver.

I haven't run across the HX motor, though, so I'm not sure what kind of issues you'd find with it.

fyi, this is what this guy had to say. i have no idea who he is or how credible this is but it's interesting. it was pasted from spade's immortal d series thread, page 5.

ok guys...here is the lowdown on the d17 (2001+ civic) engine
i am a tech at a honda dealer and we had to change out a d17 for a block problem so i took a little time and researched a few things and my conclusion is this...this motor sucks as far as swapping into any other d series car. don't even give another thought as to using this in anything other than 2001+civic...it won't work
mounts are radically different. the crank uses different size journals and even larger bore crank pulley.piston are the smallest, lightest and probable the weakest of any d pistons i have seen. the cylinder head has no provision for distributor installation and very different thermostat housing and coolant outlet. intake manifold is plastic and designed for saving space. injectors are the new smaller size and fuel system is returnless. the vtec for the EX model is the same vtec operation as the older HX head and even though this is a d-series engine honda has seen fit to change the head and block enough so that older components won't line up. the d17 is truley the blacksheep of the d-series. as far as i am concerned it is useless to anyone other than 2001+ civic owners

That was from a post I found. This means I lose. =P That ended my quest quite fast. LoL.
