Im going to a BTCC race!
Just wanted to share some exciting news (for me, at least).
The first "real" race I will ever attend will be the upcoming BTCC race at Silverstone May 8-9. Just happens to be during my UK vacation!

What he said about pics of the CTR's.
If nothing else they're certainly still using them in the Production classes because they've been fast there.
I'm jealous.

It looks like the 2 Honda red factory cars are still running, but the blue CTRs that the factory workers teams were running are now in the hands of sponsors apparently.

You're probably not going to rent since petrol is $5+ / gallon, and the cost of renting a car in Europe is astronomical. Compact / economy cars will likely run you over $600 / week.

Ugh, I noticed, we're going to have to look into trains!

That should be a very exciting race weekend. Remember to be prepared for the shock of a "weak" dollar vs. pound/Euro right now. That is what is keeping me from going to Europe this year. Take pics.

Very cool stuff. Would love to do that myself. Have great fun.

FWIW, I just got back froma trip to England and the trains are, IMO, the best way to get around the country. The tickets aren't terribly cheap depending on how far you need to go (i.e. my wife and I paid around $150 each for tickets from Liverpool to Andover which is west of London) but they're faster than driving.
We saw the Saturday Practice and Qualifying for the BTCC race last weekend at Thruxton... very cool. I'm sure you'll have a good time next month! If you have any questions about travelling by train just shoot me an IM and I'll be more than glad to fill you in on what I learned
Christian- who needs to post his pics from BTCC... a couple of which are good pics of the CTR's custom suspension

They don't keep it on the ground the entire time... I saw some rear wheel lift in the front chicane at Thruxton (car speed around 65 mph). They do manage to keep it on the ground much more than in years past with older chassis... The answer as near as I could see was custom suspension pieces. Everything on the CTR's suspension was billet aluminum as far as I could see.
I'll try and post some pics this weekend if I get a chance.
