CA owners- How much did you pay for registration?
I went to the DMV today to register my vehicle and change the title and they are charging me over $900
. WTF I know they raised the taxes but paying this much is crazy. It feels like someone is stealing my hard earned money from me.
I paid more for my first Type R and the registration and change of title was less than half of what it is now. Of course I bought my first Type R about 3 years ago.
How much was your regitration? Maybe knowing its in the same ballpark will make me feel a little better.

That number probably includes sales tax. Registration should cost about $100-$150. The actually lowered taxes quite significantly a few years ago - it used to cost me about $400 per year.

~8.5% sales tax plus about 0.5% registration fees plus about $50. Whether a car is paid off or not is not relevant.

Which amount? It it was $400 you should (thanks to Arnie's retroactive re-reduction) get most of that back. A car worth $20k or less should only cost about $150 to register.
For those of you outside California (though if you are you should not give a rat's *** about this thread) the registration fee was reduced by 2/3rds about 2 years ago. Gray David (buh bye!) increased it to its previous level last year and Arnie when he got elected reduced it again a few months later. If you paid the higher fee during those few months, you should get most of your money back

I paid mine late this year, I couldn't afford what they wanted me to pay after the Gray Davis tax hike. Before the taxes it was going to be about 380, I only ended up paying about 200, which wasn't too bad.

Doesn't REALLY matter I paid 124 registration on my cr-x that we claimed I paid 500 for.. My friend said his car was a gift and the "value" was "7k" and he paid like 95 dollars. GIFT is the way to go
