97 GS colling fan not turning on
I noticed that my fan does not kick in. Ive tried lettting the car run for 30 mins and the fan still doesnt kick in. my temp guage reads about only a quarter under half. But when I run my A/C both fans will work. Any thoughts ?
may not be gettin warm enough to kick the fan on. drive down the highway on a hot day, then as soon as you get off the highway, let it sit at idle for 5-10 minutes and see if it kicks on. it should kick on after that, should be warm enough. since both fans are kicking on when using AC it sounds all in working order
Wait until summer when it's hot enough. The fan isn't supposed to come on until the temperature gauge is around the 1/2 mark.
You could jumper the fan switch to make sure the relay & the rest of the circuit is OK. Then you can take out the fan switch, put it in a pot of water along with a thermometer, & heat it up. Use a continuity tester & watch for it to close.
