Every 30,000 miles if you don't drive it like a race car. There is no filter in the auto tranny to change. Use Honda fluid, your tranny will last longer if you do.

Dunno for the '02, though it should be the same as my '99 LX I4, which is at 90,000 miles or 6 years, whichever comes first (per my owner's manual). Check your owner's manual though, it may have a different schedule.
Also, it's an I4 (inline 4), not a V4.

uhm there are only inline 4's no v4's
the only v4's are not manufactured they are a gm 327 v8 cut in half and used pretty much only for dirt track! just thought i would give you all a heads up sorry for bringing this post back

ok , the book gives u mileage to do it on u can but .......they do that so ur car messes up and then u have to take it to them and spend a grip on gettin things fixed. u can but u dont.
Once a year if you are lazy, twice if you want to be on the safe side. I'm assuming that your tranny isn't much different than my '94 Accord. You don't have a filter to change, and the drain plug has a magnetic tip on it. You will only get about 2 and a half quarts of fluid out of it, so don't fret about changing all the fluid out. You can't and shouldn't try. 2 and a half quarts once or twice a year should be enough to keep the fluid fresh in your transmission. As far as brand or type....I use Valvoline dura-blend tranny fluid....just make sure you get something along the lines of what your owners manual calls for...which will probably be a name like Mercon/Dextron. That is not a brand name but a type of transmission fluid. (P.S. your owners manual will answer a lot of the questions that people ask in these forums)

WRONG. There are alot of V4's and they are used in motorcyles Like the VFR's and the older intercepters.

when u change the fluid use a honda fluid or a dexron III fluid and the use honda fluid only thing is a myth me and my freinds have always used B&M trickshift which is dexron III and we have had no issues
I believe V Twin means two cylinders..... not four. since I've seen harleys with the V twin designation, and they only have two cylinders.

Damn your math kicks *** V-TWIN means it has two cylinders not FOUR. You should be a math teacher and stop looking for vtec.

The proper intervals for changing auto trans fluid is every 30k. There is no filter to change, it is internal and the only way to change it is to take out the trans... Only use Honda brand fluid. If you just do a normal drain, it will take exactly 3 quarts.
