Here's the deal. Even though the car runs fine, with no indication of any problem, I have a 17-blink indication on my ECU (that's 17 short consistent quick blinks then about a 2 sec. pause before repeating). The parts guy at the dealer in Tacoma actually made a copy of the code description table from the shop manual, but it only goes up to code 14. The engine check light came on which is what drove me to check for ECU fault codes.

Nothing out of the ordinary has been done recently to the car that may have contributed (broken wire, loose connector, etc.) The car continues to run great, no change in performance at all. If the eng. ck lite had not come on, I woudn't even have known the ECU was blinking.

The eng ck light will reset when I turn the ign. off then back on, but the ECU still blinks as long as the key is on. Once the power is reapplied, the eng. ck light doesn't return however, until once the car exceeds about 55 mph (or perhaps a certain temperature, can't be sure). It'll idle all day without coming on, but take a spin and once up to speed, poof, it's back.

Not sure what the deal is here. Anyone got any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I found this ref. to a code table on-line, http://www.hondata.com/techecucodes.html, but since my car is pre-OBD, it doesn't list specific codes, only info on how to read them. It may be time to admit defeat and let a shop take a look, but I HATE THAT!
