Latex gloves and lightbulbs!?
Okay, I just picked up a set of bulbs so I can do the 9005 conversion but I'm wondering something..
I know I can't touch the glass with my fingers and that makes sense to me, but can I use gloves or something to not damage the bulbs. Or is there just NO touching lightblubs?
Thanks.

I work at a body shop and all my techs use latex gloves, they all say do not touch the bulb with bare hands. I don't think if you do touch the bulb barehanded that it'll burn the bulb out that much faster though.
I've done it before years ago and the same bulb never burned out any faster.

Yeah it's fine to use latex gloves..i know when using photography bulbs (get super hot) the oil on your skin causes them to actually explode..i would imagine the same thing can happen with a headlight bulb...never had it happen though i always use gloves
teh bulb doesn't burn out faster from having oils from your skin on it. The glass of the bulb gets very hot and if there is oils from your skin on it, the oil will prevent the glass from heating up evenly. Then the glass may crack or shatter from the differences in heat.
Christmas time can be fun for all you destructive peoples out there. Go find the houses with the OLD style Christmas lights that have those huge bulbs. Fill up a squirt gun with ice cold water and go shoot at the bulbs - they pop when they break.

i use HID grow lights...like 400Watt ones. When you put the bulb in you HAVE to use alochol...otherwise when it fires up the glass explodes and will ignite anything very close to it. Don't know about plastic though...probably just melt it. I doubt very highly these bulbs are anywhere near 400Watts...or even the 250Watt one i have...but they do generate ALOT of heat.
teh 9005 conversion is completly safe. if you use stock 9005 wattage bulbs it's only a 10 watt increase, nothing to worry about
