1992 Accord thermostat location + RAD question
Hey guys, my dad gets home and he has a leak from his rad somewhere, so we pull it out, and it's all good, but I did notice that on the bottom of the rad he has two other hoses which are as thick as a finger, and go up towards the distrbutor (right over the tranny) and then change into metal...I couldn't follow where they go...anyhow they SHOULD be coolant, because it doesn't look like the rad has any sections cut off that could help cool down a tranny and whatever else, but the liquid that came out of them appeared red in color and smelled oily...figured I'd check with you guys...someone's gotta know if that's just coolant or something else
also the location of the thermostat on the 92's, do I follow the upper or lower rad hose...looks like it could be both, figured i'd ask you guys first before I broke somethin else
Thanks

you can fill up the trans by pooring the fluid in threw the transmission dip stick hole its under those lines you falowed should have a yellow end on it
a question that poped into my mind before I go outside, can I OVERFILL the tranny?? also how much should I actually put into it? since nothing really dripped out of either hose, which is really got me wondering whether or not fluid only travels there when it gets really hot or something, so maybe I shouldn't even fill it at all?? and if that's the case, shouldn't there be some in the rad I pulled out..and how do I ensure that I replace that without overfilling the tranny...someone please shed some light on this ASAP.
thanks
thanks

Use the transmission dipstick to tell.
I don't have a '92 but on my Hondas the thermostat is at the lower radiator hose. Maybe most Hondas are like that??

No, there shouldn't be any oil in the radiator the fluid and oil are in different parts of the radiator you just cant tell from looking. Use the dip stick to check the level and fill little by little if needed I overfilled mine when I replaced my radiator but I had clear tube laying around so I just stuck it down the hole and sucked a little out until it was level.
