How does not adjusting the clutch cause bent exhaust valves??? How did you bend your valves?? What were you doing??
also what can you really do to adjust a clutch
-Larkin who curious and is happy to see the 97' running

I thought he was saying the bent valves were because he mixed up the map & tps sensors???

The Exedy Organic for some reason on itr's need to be adjusted. because the throw-out bearing get pushed into to far. It has been covered here before. I was to lazy to adjust, team lazy yo
I wanted fourth gear, but couldnt get into gear (clutch was just about dead) and I got second gear instead, spun the motor to about 11k, then it just died alittle afterwards.
The tps/map sensor thing, was after a I got everything back together.
Ryan-Who should be studing right now for his statics exam, but cant focus.

dammit. I wanted to be able to blame my misshift on the clutch too. Unfortunately, mine went into gear like a hot knife through butter (felt just like 4th)
. I popped it back into neutral after about a millisecond and it was too late. I bent 6 exhaust and 2 intake valves on my R however

i felt dumb

Clutch adjustment tool. Isn't that to set it at the right distance?

I've never heard of that. I've always just used a clutch alignment tool and while the tool is in there, I bolt everything down. There doesn't seem to be anywhere I can adjust the distance from the pressure plate to the disk or the disk to the flywheel.

I ran into the same problem on my first swap.
Now I've engraved "TPS" and "MAP" in the plugs for future reference.

Someone please explain this "clutch adjustment tool" a little for me.
I've done quite a few clutch installs during my time and never had one kit come with an 'adjustment tool'...I'm curious....
You are not talking about the alignment tool are you? That doesnt change distances between the plate and disc, just centers them.

NO such thing as an clutch adjustment tool, alignment tool is used because the clutch is splinned. You cant "adjust" a hydraulic clutch, I think they are talking about the clutch travel stroke.

I think he is. Unless he swapped a cable tranny into his R

With exedy clutches, you need to adjust the push rod on the clutch pedal. This will create more freeplay at the top of the clutch pedal, and create a shorter release bearing travel. This elimanates that scraping or grinding sound when you press the cluth pedal fully to the floor.
