Default Does CAI effect gas mileage??

I put on an AEM cai about two weeks ago and before I installed I would get almost 375 miles to the tank, now even trying to conserve my gas I can only get 275-300. Thanks in advance!!!!

Maybe you're just gunning it more now that you have a CAI.

I am guessing since the car lost some bottomend torque with the CAI, that could cause you to use more gas driving around town.

ya, i had a just short ram and i found out that i was using more gas then before and losing lower end torque with just loud intake sound.
so i put back the stock back without the resonator and you can feel the differrence.
restore the bottom end torque as well!!
i guess with the stock, you won't have to always floor it like the cai to get it going

anything you mod on your car will make it use more gas

how the FU*K would you get 390 to the tank!!!!!!!!!!! i can't even get more than 275. i doubt preludes can go that far up int eh mpg. and it doesn't affect it by 100 miles trust. maybe a lil yea but not that much. its only intake not ITB. or you apply more pressure to the gas pedal. not gunning it but a lil more to get it going.

mods that allow better breathing usually improve gas mileage

i agree with above. i had a teg and got about 25 more miles out of the tank with a CAI. Also I have a 4th gen with stock everything and i can get 425 miles out of a full tank.

it's all about not gunning it...
read this:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=374293

edit: it's also if you mess with the fuel amounts, a regular CAI does not need new injectors and such because the flow of air isn't that great. ITBs on the other hand, have great flow and need more fuel to accompany the flow...
