Default What exhaust will get rid of the raspy sound?

I have an EP3 with comptech race header and comptech exhaust. Car sounded awesome before I put the race header on...but now I get a very embarrasing raspy noise in first and 2nd gear. I love the comptech exhaust but it just sounds like **** with the race header.

Anyone have any suggestions?

have you heard these exhaust with race header? I don't want to switch out a perfectly good exhaust to end up with the same problem. Like I said, the comptech sounded awesome pre-header too.

Throw a Magnaflow silencer in your exhaust...will sound great then.

Don't think it'll fit, isn't the Comptech a 3.5" resonated tip muffler? Gotta use the Comptech silencer but it defeats the purpose of having a performance header and exhaust. Cost you $30 to find out I guess.

A silencer will not defeat the purpose at all. It is not like a catalytic converter, a silencer SHOULD be a straight thru design and will capture some of the sound waves but will still allow exhaust to flow freely.

there is the comptech silencer for 30 bucks....I mean I guess I could buy it and use it on the street...and just pull it out when racing.

Are you running a cat? If not, that might be the problem.

race header = no cat

I know this is what started the problem, but just wondering if there is an exhaust that will compensate for the no cat.

Actually, I've seen a dyno recently on ephatch that showed 1-3 hp gains with the silencer in on a skunk 2 exhaust.

I have a race header on my DC5 and the Greddy SP2 exhaust. Sounds great...not raspy at all.

wouldn't the silence help with the backpressure? therefore you'd lose and gain some.

and that would help with the sound too

It would a little bit U guess...the silencers are mostly just straight through designs but I guess they could create some back pressure.

the APEX N1 silencer really turns the exhaust into a pea shooter. unless the comptech silencer or whatever one you are talkin about, is different, then the silencer will create backrpessure - "pea shooter"

I am running the comptech header and skunk 2 exhaust. It doesn't sound raspy at all.
