I think you would have to get a customly programed chip. Why would you want to desengage your VTEC?

I think so too.

Or unless you have a VTEC controller, and set it to past your redline. I'm still curious how the GS-R feels with just the low cam. I bet it's still slightly faster than an LS.

Disengage the vtec solenoid and find out. And it's gonna be slower then an LS that's for sure.

Maybe I should explain why I want to do this . ..

I have a 2000 gsr with an F-max turbo kit, and it leans out really bad (I think) when vtec engages. Then it leans out even worse when the secondary butterflies open up. I was thinking that the valve overlap might be a bit much until I can afford to get a hondata with some big injectors and a full motor build.

EDIT: -- This thread should explain it all.

Which one, though? The VAFC threw a CEL when used in conjunction with the MF2 AIC

All these acronyms are starting to sound very military to me. lol

I use Rspec...it doesn't have any fancy fuel mapping programs in it...just a plain jane VTEC controller...works well!!

So i just swapped in a b18c1 into my teg, where a b18b1 used to reside. Since I haven't had time to do the wiring (school is hella busy) ive been running around on just the low cam.
No, its not faster than an LS, and sure is reluctant to pull to 8k.

Tom
(who hopes he can get the wiring done this week)

Really? That really suprises me considering the the B18C has better flowing heads and the GS-R tranny is tighter. Of course one wouldn't be shifting at 8K anymore since that'll probably land you outside the power peak in the next gear.

Now I've got something to do next time I've got time to kill.

Um...I know how VTEC works. Thanks.

But even with the so called "bitch" cam, I figured it would be comparable if not quicker than an LS.

I'll just have to try it and see.

You wanna know a GSR on only low cam? Just rev the engine before it's at operating temperature. The VTEC solenoid doesn't operate if the engine is cold.

can't do that with a turbo, shouldn't do that period. The oil is too thick for any car to be revving when it's cold. It's like the quote of the guy who said "make sure your car is cold when you race, cause the transmission shifts harder" or somethin like that...

Instead of disconnecting the vtec solenoid, why dont' you:

a) get bigger injectors

b)up your fuel press

c)richen it up with a vafc

Disconnect the vtec makes no sense whatsoever!!

Pop your hood, and disconnect the VTEC selnoid harness. It's right next to the distributor.

Listen to these guys. Diconnect the Solenoid...it works and will not throw any CELs. But this is not the correct fix for your problem.
