Could someone please tell me what the problem is. I start the engine and it idles at very low rpms, and through the exhaust all I see is black smoke from the rich mixture. Took out the spark plugs and they are all completely black. The computer code came out 5(5 short blinks) but cant seem to find what it means.
Appreciate any help. THe engine is an LSVTEC with p28 ecu if it helps.

Do a search and figure out what that code is before you ask any more questions. I'm pretty sure it's an O2 sensor malfunction, which would definately explain your rich mixture, and it's an easy fix as far as codes go.
