Default Help.. Idle gone haywire after TB Cleaning...

Decided to clean the TB today.. took off the intake tubing, rev.. spray .. rev.. spray... rev spray... idle... etc etc etc

Anyhow, took the car for a spin around the block after.. drove for about 10 minutes.. hard and soft.. then noticed i was idling at 1100-1200 RPM (usually its about 400rpm lower)

The next thing that would happen is it would shoot up to 1400ish.. and rev up 50 revs.. then down, then up then down etc etc etc .. and wouldnt stop. I turned off the car, turned back on.. idled high, but constant.. then given another 30 seconds or so.. and it would go back to the up/down revving.

Any ideas as to wha tthis could possibly be? is it possible that its coincidental that it happened after the TB cleaning or is it directly related to it?

check your throttle cable. make sure there is enough give to allow the TB to be sealed when it is ideling. also make sure the butterfly is sitting right.

Hard to say. Check your throttle cable; it might be damaged.

More likely, I'd think you have a loose or damaged vacuum line. They can cause erratic idle, and you were spraying **** in there. You also could have knocked one around.

Hard to say, but give it a look.

Dont know if this matters, i had pulled out my rad fluid overflow bottle to get at the lower screws at the CAI... left the overflow bottle kinda sitting there between the motor and the rad for a bit as i drove the car, realized it afterwards... lol

rofl i know your pain brother! it wont effect the idling problem,

I did that to. i pulled it out and left it on my jdm dc headers, while i was putting in my HID's. i wanted to see how they looked driveing so i pulled onto the highway... simi riped it and i see smoke in my rearview mirror... i was like wtf!? it turns out that.... heat > plastic when i popped the hood the antifreeze reservoir was melted and was leaking all over my header/block (hence the smoke) lol i electric taped it shut; filled it up; put it back and drove my dumb *** back home. LOL then went to a junkyard and got a new reservoir and i was golden. =p

Hm...double-check your CAI...make sure it's tight...loose intake connections might also explain your trouble (especially the positive crankcase vent!)

The real mystery is why would it only happen after 30 seconds of idle ... and not right away...

I have a feeling it could be either my MAF or TPS... because it doesnt seem like it can be anything else at this point

The TPS is pop-rivetted on.. how does one go about removing that?
*edit*
Not throwing any CEL's either.

ok... what did you use to clean your TB??? why is everyone syaing check your cable when if you contaminated your sensors with the spray you were using, that would cause this.

let the TB dry for a while. if whatever you sprayed clogs the sensors it will cause a eradic idle

I used Motomaster Throttle Body Cleaner...

If sensors are screwy, shouldnt they be throwing a code?

no if they are clogged you would get no code. all you need is a surface film on them that would make the readings inaccurate.

what does it say on the can of TB cleaner? does it say sensor safe? usually whe u use a good cleaner you gotta take it off the motor and remove everything and then clean it. take all your sensors off and use a sensor safe cleaner on them.

Hrmmm will have to take a good look tomorrow then.

TB cleaner doesnt say anything about sensors..
Is there a special cleaner for sensors... or are there other cleaners that are sensor friendly as well?
