Has your car broken down before?
yup... well.. mah car (93 Si) just suddenly died on meh while i was on the freeway... luckily i was able to get into the emergency lane safely.... ne ways....
so i'm checking out mah car.... and when i tried to turn it over... it cranks right... but just doesn't wanna budge enough to start....
when it died.. i had about a gallon worth of gas in there (around 3 cellish)
as i said earlier.. mah car just cranks.... well.. mah cuz's gf 'lude (92 Si) broke down just the way like mines... and what turned out was that it was the ignition coil.... so i'm guessin... it probably is too....
so is it common on a lot of 4th gens that the ignition coil just suddenly gives out???

First-it is not a good idea to run with so little gas in the tank-the fuel pump is cooled by it and there is another good reason. There is a screen on the pump that can get clogged-are you sure you have fuel? Can you hear the pump run for about 2 seconds when you turn the key to the ON position before trying to start. Does the Check light go off after 2 seconds? If the light does not do this-Main relay or fuel pump can be bad. Next thing is whether the distributor has any reddish dust on the inside of the cap or even the interal parts-sure sign of bearing failure (known issue with Honda dizzys). If there is enough of this dust it is possible that the sensors in the distributor are toast.
There is a test for the coil in the Helm. Ther is also one for the Ignitor. You either have or don't have spark. It may also be a good idea to check for Codes on the ECU.

my car broke down on the highway twice, the first time i thought it
was the main relay so i changed that. then i broke down again in the same place.
it turned out to be the ignitor. when the car got to a certain temp, the ignitor
failed, but it would start when it was cold
it's probably either your ignitor, coil, or main relay.
have you ever changed any of these?

well... i took out mah distributor cap... i saw very liil red dust on the cap... but when i checked the distribuot.... just with the cover (not the distributor cap... but another black cover you see when you take the distribuotor cap off) on... i can see red dust on the holes... so yea....
i bought a new coil and installed it.... and still didn't budge.....
so after seeing the red dust inside the distributor... do i have to end up replacing the entire distributor????
