Most Salvage Titles are/or will indicate "PARTS" only on them. So as long as the Title doesn't say "PARTS" then it's most likely a good candidate for a rebuild.
But it is rather a lengthy process getting involved with a SALVAGED car.
1st, Replacing parts = $$$
2nd, Bodyshop costs for damaged areas; Frame, Radiator Support, Paint matching or Repaint whole car, etc. = LOTS of $$$ (unless you own a bodyshop
3rd, State Inspection(s) and Title Converison(s) = Headaches and Time (if you don't know the State Laws on Salvaged cars and/or County Laws, you'd better brush up)
Now consider it a good buy if you can buy the car out + repair costs under 1/2 price of the cars original market value. Otherwise you are wasting your time.

If the car has a salvage title it can be put back on the street. All you need to do is fix it take to a highway patrol station have them look the car over to check for stolen parts and then get your title ran and it will come back as a regular title except for it will have prior salvage printed on it. If the title is branded as a nonrebuilable then it can not be put back on the street. you should have no problems getting a salvage title car on the streets.
I don't know how it works in Canada, but here in the states I bought a car with a salvage title. After stripping it down, redoing the interior, seats, head liner, carpet, windows, accesories, and repainting the whole car, we were able to register the car at the D.M.V., and drive it like normal. Bought the car for $200, invested some time and money in the car, and was able to turn around and sell it for $4000.
A "salvage title" just means that it costs more to repair the car than it is actually worth. But hey, one mans junk is another mans treasure.
