I'm currently trying to swap my b18a for a JDM b18b. Murphy's law tells us that nothing ever does go smoothly, but dammit I'm a little frustrated. I'm trying to remove the axles and I can't get the 32mm bolts that hold the axles to the spindle/brake assembly (for lack of better term) to budge. I did it by the book: used a screwdriver and hammer to unkink the little dimple, breaker bar with the 32mm socket, hit it with the gun and NOTHING. I tried penetrating catalyst, WD40, smashing it with a hammer. I'm using a 3 HP, 20 gallon compressor and a gun w/ unknown amount of torque. A friend told me that I would need a better gun and a compressor with a higher capacity. Any tips, old school tricks, or advice?

BTW the car was parked the whole winter so I know that has something to do with it.

 

ok heres what you do, take a screw driver and put it in the rotor through the caliper to hold it from turning, then take the 32mm and putit ona breaker bar if you got one, if not a ratchet will work. go to sears and buy a section of galvanized pipe about 5 feet long and put it on teh ratchet. next just stand on it and poof if will come off.

expect to have some trouble getting the axle out of te hub

 

hahaha ive bent so many screwdrivers doing that.

and ive also had many that wont come off with a good impact gun, you need a good long breaker bar and then just jump on it.

 

yea go to auto zone and get one of those 18 inch 1/2" breaker bar and put the car on the ground with the wheel still on and it will come off.... i broke 2 lug nuts so i had to go to the JY and remove 3 diffrent axle nuts. until i found the hub that fit...

 

my old school trick way is sticking a screwdriver in the rotor slots and using a 32mm attached to a breaker bar which is attached to a 3 ft steel hollow tube which is finally gripped by GOOD OL' FASHION CORN FEED MUSCLE!!!

there isn't a nut on a honda I haven't broken the torque off yet.

 

make sure the car is on the ground with the wheel on.

I broke one of my dad's breaker bar trying to get that nut off. I was flexing the **** out of the suspension. My dad told me to put the car on the ground and it came right off.
