Default Anyone have an h23EG?

I was just wondfering if anyone had an H23EG because I found an H23 complete swap for very cheap and in very good condition. I just wanted to know what times you are running and if you are pleased? I will opt for the h22 swap later but I figured since I have everything to do the swap and the d15 isn't doin much for me on the performance end I might as well. Basically getting this swap for free. let me know. thanks.

if you plan on doing an H22A swap down the road anyways, and can get the H23 for free... then DO IT, DO IT

i wouldn't bother witht eh h23 if your just going to pop a h22 in later. Unless you like popping engines in and out of your car, or like experimenting.

It would be a very torquey and fun engine. I can't see getting much traction tho.

that's my thoughts... of course, I can't find a complte h23 for a good price like this guy obviously can. H23vtec would be pretty damn torquey.. especially if you got the H22 pistons

at least wait til you have 1000 posts before you start missmatching heads and blocks .

Leave the engineering to honda

How do some people think that your post count shows your mechanical ability. All it shows is that you are 1. post whoring 2. have been here longer 3. are post whoring.

Number of posts doesn't mean ****. Their are so many users on these boards that get online everyday and just bump every thread trying to raise their post count. It's pretty lame.

can we say H23 turbo baby!!! Screw VTEC when u can save on the H23 engine and tranny over the H22 setup. Take that extra cash that would be the difference and invest it in a turbo kit. Sure u wont be able to boost a whole lot on stock internals but hey thats why they have an aftermarket.

Ohh yeah BTW Daver if u really believe that the amount of posts accounts for your mechanical aptitude and or ablility, then u truly are an idiot.

wow, i guess nobody has a sense of humour today...gees; and yes it WAS a JOKE! Hello???! Too many stiffs around here...

My opinion is, tho, that ls/vtecs (and h23/vtecs) are not worth it. For the minimal power gains from the extra cc's, its not worth giving up the good honda factory reliability (or at least the confidence in any). UNLESS, you build it up to take the abuse; but then just spend all that money on buying the h22 instead. So its still not worth it.

And if you don't care about reliability and want power at all cost, i say put the cheap h23 in and save for a turbo. Another 1000rpms of vtec power will be a joke compared to what a turbo can do.

I think you'll be fine with the h23...maybe opt for the LSD shizzle laters.

Your probably just gonna get a bunch of opinions as thats a rare combo....but. Look at it this way. If you are getting the motor for free,DO IT. It's better than the d15,regardless of whether you are going to swap an h22 into it afterwords. I would imagine you will have some traction problems just like an h22 hatch. Try and get the widest rim and tire combo you can clear.

H23 with the H22 vtec head is a great combo. Obviously, you also want to swap over the H22 tranny. Traction with the 2.3 compared to the 2.2 will not be much different. Ever driven a 2.2 in an eg? Yeah, hard to get traction anyway. The 2.3 has lower compression too so it is a good candidate for turbo. I say put in the 2.3, add the vtec head when you can and the 2.2 tranny and then turbo it. Would make a fast eg.
