Whats up guys. Im having a problem w/ oil spraying out my muffler when my car is starting. Im also getting a small puff of smoke when i go wot while driving. My mods include jdm 4-1 header, smsp highflow carsound 2.5", t1r full catback and comptech icebox. anyone have any ideas?

 

are you sure it's oil?

 

thats what it seems to be. dark colored, def not condensation.

I have a black mark on my garage door from my car when i had it.

yup, thats what my moms truck has, its just like water/fuel mixed with the carbon in the exhaust pipes/muffler so dont worry bout it..

do u put cheap gas in?

 

How's your oil consumpsion? do you burn oil like me

That's not oil spray.

 

check your oil level, like others said its probably fuel,

in general, a/f ratio gets rich during warmer weather.

 

yea def burning oil, thought i had a leak in the head gasket but it doesent seem to be the problem. dont want to start a debate but i do use mobil one . so if its not oil what can i do to stop it from happening ?

 

how much oil are you loosing in between oil changes? and how long has it been since last oil change.. and last what oil weight are you using btw..

as for running rich, i wonder if its just fuel vapor making its way from gas tank through IM since you say it only happens during startup.

 

in the past 3k miles ive burnt 2 quarts of mobil one 5w 30. Im about due for a change

 

also i do get a puff of smoke out the rear when going wot

 

maybe try convetional oil, possibly higher oil weight.. weather permits for 10w40 right now.. - some on this board say against anything other than 5w30, which is fine.
my engine i wouldn't run anything lower than 10w40, but mine isn't stock.

btw.. while my engine was all stock, i had little and mostly no oil consumption using 5w30 conventional quakerstate..

 

I also get a lot of smoke when WOT and burn just over 2 qts in 3k miles...

I tried to go with GTX 5/30 but it seems not to make a difference. So when I do my next oil change soon I'll be going back to Mobil 1 5/30 forever.
