Default water pumps

im in the process of replacing my water pump and now that i have the old one out, im noticing that the new one is a lot tougher to spin than the old one. is that normal? im guessing that this is normal, but i just wanted to get a second opinion. oh and one more question, what kind of sealer should i use between the pump and the block? permatex silicon? or ???? thanks in advance

yes its normal.. as long as the new pump doesnt make any noise, but spins smoothly. It should feel like its adequately lubricated, thats y its a little more resistant to spinning, but should not make any noise.
About sealant, I use the permatex water sealant, specifacally meant for water pumps. They sell them at autozone. If not, i would use the permatex ultra grey, hondabond, they're all the same. It doesnt really matter

cool. like i said, i figured it was normal, but since this is the first time ive done this, i just wanted to make sure. the jobs all done, i just have to get some coolant and torque that crankshaft nut. it was a pretty easy job, except for that damn nut. it took me 2 days to finally get it off. what a bitch! thanks again guys
