Audio/Sub help
We just hooked up a sub in an EG Civic with a Pioneer head unit. The sub is only putting out high frequency. Any idea as to why it's doing that? We've installed many subs and never run across this problem. Any incite is much appriciated. Thanx guys.
You dont have a crossover or it is not turned on. If it is on, then you have it on high pass and not low pass like you should. You didn't mention what kind of amp you were running. Please tell me you are not running your sub off of the deck amp.
which headunit is it??? Pinoeer has a option to turn off the subs...Be sure the RCA'a are hooked up to the SUBWOOFER OUTPUT.
THEEENNN on the headunit, push the Audio button till SUBWOOFER comes up on the screen
Then push UP button to turn it on...
THEENNN push the audio button again, and change the subwoofer freguency by pushing left and right and change the volume output by pushing up or down... I keep mine on 80hz to play all ranges below 80
The head unit has a HPF selection which is the high pass filter, turn that on by pushing up and then left to 80hz, that way no bass below that range is going to the internal speakers...
good luck but dude we need more specs on the headunit, what amp youre running, how many RCA outputs are on the thing aaannnddddd how many subs ya got...

well 5600 isnt a pioneer type but if you have the 6600 you should be good to go, follow my instructions. The radio on the back has 3 RCA jacks, one for FRONT one for REAR and one for SUBWOOFER...They have the tags right on them so its not that hard to figure out what is what...Give it a whirl and get back to us....

i know how to install a sub.. i also know how to work the cd player. we took the car to an audio shop and they didnt know why it was doing it. the only thing we can come up with is that the head unit sub output is going bad.
It's my car that is being discussed here. The amp is fine, the sub is fine the headunit has bad RCA outputs. Horseshit for Pioneer, but whatever. I guess I won't be rocking a subwoofer. Not a big loss

Don't let that sway you from getting another Pioneer. They are by far the most resiliant and reliable decks out there. With sophisticated electronics sometimes **** happens.
