Default AEM gauge type - no longer working after using race gas

after boosingt on 118 octane leaded fuel, the AEM controller display is at constant 13.8 - 14.2 A/F

What can cause this? I spent all race fuel and now tank is filled with 93 octane and the gauge still reading same. Could the 02 sensor be destroyed?

I don't have a Cat and used a mix of 114 and 93 for tuning a few weeks ago with no probs.

strange...

yeah i think leaded gas is bad for the sensor but you might have another issue, check all your wire connections etc

Leaded gas will kill the life of a wide band o2 sensor

So i just need to replace the bosch sensor part of the controller? AEM says we can use leaded, but not like on a regular basis.

I just used leaded gas once...this sux

Can i still drive with the crippled 02 sensor? I'm ordering new Bosche sensor first thing monday morning. Should I not drive/boost at all till new sensor comes in?

Still need to commute to work...

Depends on how your engine management is setup.. O2 Feedback?

if available in your area about 15% more is unleaded race gas like Mark12 / 16 etc.

Yeah, but do you have O2 feedback setup or are you running without an O2 sensor giving input to your EMS?? Basically, does your car run shitty now? I have O2 feedback setup in my EMS and my FJO WBO2 became temporarily disconnected a couple times as a connector got jostled loose and there was a noticeable degradation in drivability. I drove a year without ANY O2 sensor connected to my AEM EMS, so it wouldn't matter if it took a ****. Following me? It only matters if you have the EMS setup to react to the O2 feedback, ask your tuner if you still can't figure it out. Good luck

I was boosting up to 22 psi on the way back from the track with no problems at all, the pulls were very strong and car was fast.

The tuner loaded the map after we repaired the cracked manifold and it appears the EMS is running from the map w/o the 02 feedback.

But i'm gonna replace the 02 sensor anyways just be safe. Thanks for the input

Sensor is farkin $130...so I'm gonna try to clean it first before ordering a new one...

pulled the 02 sensor and wiped off the ash with dry paper towel, it was covered in an ashy thin soot...does it appear to be ok now? Will simply wiping off the soot help?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the leaded gas ruins the sensor due to a chemical reaction and not from the soot... Let us know how it turns out though
