I am about to throw a junkyard turbo kit on my d16y8 using the small stock wrx turbo and I need to know how much boost the stock internal wastegate will open at.

 

You have a Mitsubishi TD04L with a 13t compressor wheel using an IHI Subaru 3 bolt Flange on the turbine inlet...

The Stock Wastegate is set to open up at 8psi and the maximum boost you want to produce with this turbo is 17psi...

You can port the turbine housing quite a bit to help flow the exhaust, especially under the wastegate flapper...

that turbo is perfect for the y8. i have run 12-13psi daily with the same turbo on my y7 with y8 im swap and it pulls atw to 7200rpm fuel cut off.

you can get an intake flange and exhaust flange from http://www.uniquemotorsports.com to make you dp and adapterplate.

 

damn thanks a lot guys. Your info really helped . I actually got the flanges all worked out because i'm buying the kit from egizzle6 who already has the adapter plate along with it and an hf manifold .
