What do you do with old valve covers?
I did a little garage cleaning and came up with several extra D16A6 OE valve covers from old engines. They range from peeling paint and ugly to not asmuch peeling paint and not so ugly. I was thinking about having one or several repainted or better powdercoated in different colors to use on racecar engines to be able to keep track of them. I may soon have an IT engine and an FP engine and thought it might be a cool way to keep stuff differentiated. Also the one on my ZC street car is looking pretty ugly too although I have no spare.
What do you guys do without spending much money on having them done? I have never had small volume powder coating done. I have one D16A6 valve cover that has been polished already but would prefer color on the others.

That worked for me... aircraft stripper is VERY flammable.

Put an RC car chassis under it and go valve cover racing!
Keith, who understands why the rocket-powered valve cover racecars were banned...

You can do what Eee Pee did, which came out very nice by the way, or you can grab a Summit/Jegs etc... catalog and order up an Eastwood or similar home powder coating kit and give that a whirl.
Just don't get too crazy...

I like that idea. Maybe I'll just powder coat two spares and save one for for an RC car frame. The little guy would love it.

I wish I took some pics of an Accord that was in our shop the other day... the ENTIRE engine bay (hoses, wires, everything!!) was painted with rattle-can silver paint!!!. (Tijuana Chrome)
Seriously though, I've done two covers now where I just used Aircraft stripper (no, you don't HAVE to light it on fire for it to work) and then rattle-can primer followed by flat black paint. It doesn't need to be high-temp for the cover.
