how much tranny fluid does a b16 tranny hold?
Just dumped my tranny fluid for synchromesh, it took 2 and 3/4 bottles till it started floeing out of filler hole, my only question is does it make a difference if the car was jacked up in the front when filling, does this effect amount of fluid you can pour in?
The manual calls for 2.3 liters - jacking the front up would have tilted it back a bit, as long as you have at least 2 and a little in there, its fine.

But as MKC said the difference is so minimal that it is irrevelant. Happy Tuning!!!

hey so do i fill the tranny with fluid till it flows out of the fill hole? reason i ask is because i was swaping my tranny to another motor and fluid came out the axle port and i dont know how much spilled
if fluid came out of the axle port, it sounds like a bad axle seal. working in independent import repair shop, we always fill a trans until it starts to flow out of the filler plug and call it good.
Use Honda MTF, 10W-30 engine oil, or a compatible lightweight synchromesh transmission lubricant such as Amsoil Synthetic Synchromesh MTF 5W-30 or GM Synchromesh. Do not use standard gear oil containing sulfur or boron (75W-80, 80W-90, etc.) because you will cause damage to the transmission.
He was swapping the transmission. The axle was out; there's nothing to seal against.
