The first time I drove my EJ8 the floor mats bunched under and over the accelerator and the car revved out like crazy, it was ******* tense.

I've heard other people complain about this, is it a known issue, was there a resolution from Honda?

Did they change the design of the floormats at all, I see some OEM replacments floormats with anchor holes. Could I add the anchors to my 99 civic ex coupe?

honda supposedly fixes it for free
mounts a holding tab or something like that
(there was a recall on the mats)

 

I get the same thing on my 97 Civic EX. I just drilled holes amd installed sheet metal screws and washers to hold it. Worked good and not very noticeable.
