This is true. All the ones compare above were ex's, but if you compare them regardless of trim, some 4D's are lighter than some 2D. In fact, I always make my friends mad about this. "my 4d is lighter than ur hatch" lmao good times...

honda didnt make coupes in 1992, which is what I am aware of... But my 4 Door DX Civic actualyl weighs lighter than my buddies old 92 Si hatch hehe.... And my 4 door is also lighter than my 95 EX Coupe... and my 4 door has power windows and locks.... The doors are off a EX so its got the power options, and I believe it weighs in at just under 2300lbs or a little lighter... I could be mistaken though....

I always wonder as to how people measure their cars. IMO the best places are those that use the scales to measure rather small changes in scale readings to charge people price vs. wieght. The local rock seller (Haulquest) has an accurate scale you drive up to, and its made for things from trailers to quad axles - not like the huge bigrig-only scales.

well the 92 to 95 si comes with things that the ex doesnt that makes it heavier such as sunroof, disk brakes and much more so there are some coupes that could be lighter then a hatch

TAKE OFF THE CAPS, DICK.
Your talkin 5th gen, ok. 6th gen civics, yes, most sedans were less than the equivelent coupe. Now a EX sedan (a/t) probably weights more than a dx coupe (m/t) of the same chassis in the 96-00. I know that the EM1 is over 2600lbs, while my 96 sedan is a little over 2300lbs, but that car has more features. Dont know about stock frames, id think the coupe would weigh more just because of the design. The sedan has the B pillar, which helps with rigidity, the coupe has to have a little more strengthing, just like how convertables always weigh a lot more than the soild roof counterparts.

I like posts like this that helps dispell the "myth" that 4 doors are heavier than all coupes & hatches ...

Re: civic 4 dr weighs less than a 2 dr?? (eg8kid)
People think hatches are always light cause they have a lot of interior room and air, and psychologically, we think its full of air, like a baloon.
With the coupes, people think "small, light, nimble sports car" and when you say 4 door, people think "big, heavy, comfortable family car" Not that this is true, but its how cars sorta used to be generalized. I mean back in the day, we didnt have the Civic, a car which is a 2, 3, 4, and (in europe sometimes) a 5 door. All sharing the same brakes, subframes, and most of the chassis.

Re: (AntF)
OK, those are wrong. You sayin that a 96 civic and 2000 civic weigh the same? No, it like any other car gets heavier over time, the 2000 EX coupe weighs more than the 96 EX coupe, if you want proof, Air Injection, there, thats one system that will make it weigh more. also electonic climate control weighs different than the older style.

I hate those sites that post fake ****. Generalizing between years is bullshit. Some years differed. So a sedan full interior (ex) weighs the same as a DX . Come on. don't bother posting that **** please.

I am aware of this. Rear discs and ABS were in fact available as an option in the LXs. I've seen them. I wasn't one of the lucky ones because I didn't get either one.

Yeah, occured to me that the information was very vague. Thus, why I edited after posting that and added that extra comment.
