Default question about this car alarm, and installation

i'm new to the car alarm world (this will be my first), and i was just wondering if this one was any good
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33721

or this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...78046

i found them from this other forum

http://www.3.8mustang.com/foru...68956

also how hard are they to install? I installed an uncountable number of stereos/systems. is an alarm much harder?
It would be in a 5th gen civic (hopefully), which i dont have yet . Any input on the topic would help. Thanks

Spend a little more and get a Viper or Clifford...

ME personally i like the viper 791xv, sumwhat price-e but then again how often do you plan to buy a new alarm.. every yr? lol. IMO a good alarm needs good placement of the shock sensor(usally on steering column), having the hood switch installed, extra sirens and a back up battery and a proxy sensor... little extras you put in your alarm will benifit you more then you know. theres not point in putting a alarm in that will be bypassed too simply.. car alarms don't scare a theif away inless you do it right.

i have 2 sirens under the hood, 2 sirens in the car, a proxy sensor, hood switch and a back up battery. by the time a would be theif would unplug the brain for my alarm i would have shot him leaving his brains on my dash.

Regarding your install "issue", consult http://www.the12volt.com and get your car's wiring schematics. That's how I was able to install my Clifford 700IQ into my '91 Civic sedan. The alarm works perfectly EXCEPT for the fact that the door lock function is fubared and it's beyond my control. I need a new alarm now.

Well at least you want a great car to learn on. Alarms can be difficult as any
new thing can be,but once you overcome that fear, they are your pal.
Here are some tips I can give you:

a. Take your time...any shortcuts you take will make it that much easier
to defeat all of you hard work.
b. Make sure you have all materials and tools handy.
c. Find a good spot for the 'brain'..be creative ( rear side panel
under a seat)..see step a
d. If you get frustrated...take a walk clear your mind...see a

See the trend...its your car take your time. As for security systems
DEI...why well there is always a DEI dealer around for parts and service.
( Python,sidewinder,rattle,viper/automate/valet/avital/clifford etc)
Plus many manufactures are going to thier wire codes. Here is what I
would do...( it seems that you will put in 'work' on your car so lets
keep it yours ( or try too )

Security system ( immobilze ign not starter)
a set of air horns mounted behind my fenders
digital tilt/motion sensor
audio ( glass breakage sensor)
hood lock (if they cant get in..they cant shut it up)
single led mounted in view on each door.

this should make them look for more easy pickens...
