2000 Si with Poorman's type r swap and I ran into some problems!!!
Ok I pulled my b16 out of my 2000 si and I swapped in a fully built Poorman type r for future turbo plans. Now my speedometer and odometer dont work. I used the same engine harness and I have no check engine lights. Only sensor I left off was the Crank Fluctuation Sensor. Vtec works fine. I even pulled out Speedsensor to clean it and harness it connects too and still dont work. I also noticed yesterday my reverse lights dont work either. My friend has same swap in his ek with same problems and his reverselights dont work bulbs are still good though. Does any one know what the deal is? Also where is the fuse for reverse lights on ek?

well, i really dont have any experience with this, but i'd suggest get someone mechanically inclined to look over everything, to make sure you've hooked up all of the sensors right. even if you've checked over it again and again, they will probably find something you've overlooked. good luck.

If you done a search you would of fined out.
poor mans r is gsr block with a b16 or gsr head.

Well I am mechanically inclined and everything is plugged up. There is no check engine light. It has to be something in the wiring though because my reverse lights went out also. I think it is a ground around the tranny somewhere.

gsr block w/ b16 head
gsr block w/ b16 head
check the fuses again... i'm almost sure that the taillights, and the gauge cluster are powered by the same fuse. so if that't out it would explain why both don't work.
Look under the dizzy and u should see a little ground there its just a tiny nipple. Is that plugged in? cause that didnt let my speedo or tach work. took my 3 hours to figure it out and i caught it by accident.
First off I am running the same p28 that I used on my b16 that was in there at first and I had no problems with the other motor.
Also what is a dizzy JDM and does that ground unplugg when you pull out the engine harness.

do u want your speedo to work stop looking for fuses and the ecu does not control the speedo and it will never throw a code if the speedo is not hooked up and your vtec will still work. theres only to things it can be either its nottttttt plugged in or the speedo sensor on the tranny went bad trust me it can happen

Wouldn't that just be a GSR

what's the point of putting a b16 head on a GSR block (aside from the better flow characteristics)? wouldnt it save time to just buy a GSR engine?
a poor mans type R ?

Wouldn't you need to change the pistons to make that worth your while? A GSR head yields higher compression than a B16 head? I was gonna build a GSR block with ctr pistons and a B16 head but that would yield 11.75:1 CR. Otherwise, you would lose power putting a b16 head on a GSR block...
poor mans type = gsr block with b16/ ctr pistions to yeild a higher compression with a gsr head.
you can use the b16 head but you will lose .5 compression.
the point is to raise compression ratio to get you closer to a c5 cr.
out of b16/ctr/itr/gsr the Ctr pistons give the highest compression
and if your that hung up on the " Better flow of a b16 head " port out the intake side of the gsr head, or get the snake tool and hone it out yourself to match your intake manifold gasket

When you raise the compression ratio dont you need to compensate with higher octane fuel? So whats the highest compression ratio that can work with 91 octane?
