How hard is it to replace a rear 1/4 panel?
I wrecked my car and wanted to know how to replace the rear 1/4 panel. I need to know how much cutting is involved and how long it might take. this is the only part that is hard the other stuff is a breeze. I dont want to take it to a body shop that will cost to much $$$. If anyone knows how to do this let me know or send me a link to somewhere or something.
Thanks in advance

Yes, if you don't know anyone, a shop will have to do it. Mine had to be replaced
not long ago when I was hit and that was a custom cutting and welding job. It's generally not cheap either.

yeah its not cheap at all...i got nailed by a driver doin under 20 and the damage is almost $1600....its realli hard to replace..i wouldnt suggest doin it.
Crap...i have the same problem. My car was hit in a parking lot and i found a shell with a perfect rear quarter panel. I figured it would cost less to just have someone replace it rather than fix it. I thought it was just bolted on like the fenders. This really sucks to hear.

Yeah, unforunately not. Taking a quick look, you can see that the whole panel is attached basically all the way to the front of the car. They'd have to cut it out, put in new metal in, and do all that nonsense. Plus there are multiple mounting points inside that attach to the frame (subframe?).
Definitely not one of those front fenders where you can unbolt on, and slap a new one on.
My friend had her Daewoo hit hard in the rear panel and it's the same thing. I estimate it will get totalled just because of that. Sucks for her, she just got the car.

if its just dented and not too bad, body shops have a frame machine you can put it on and usually it can get pretty much back to normal, if its not back to normal they can do a little bit bondo/sanding work to get it nice and smooth again.

So i shouldnt even worry about it then? Just have my body guy straighten my current 1/4 panel?

yup.. a girl backed into my ride at school in the parking lot.. nothing that bad either.. almost like a ding.. but it was enough to make my car slide sideways.. anyways, it costed 2k to get it fixed and that portion painted and other parts blended..
2 months later, insurance is still pending.. damn thoes stingy ******** with there money that we pay to them!!!
and another thing.. if we dont ever have to use insurance... shouldnt we get our money back???

If youre not a body technician I wouldnt attempt to do it. Its alot of work and if you dont do it right you could end up with lots of problems. I know, this is what I do for a living. Take it to a shop to have it done right or find someone in the trade that would do it on the side for less money.
See how straight you can get it by yourself, and then call Dent Wizard to do what they can. I actually know a guy who did this and saved himself $1500. All he had to do was get it painted. The car looks mint.
me and my dad are doing this, i can get all my parts for $500 i think. I know i can get my front bumper, right panel, door w/mirror & glass for $370. I dont know actually how much a rear 1/4 panel would cost. If anyone knows let me know. I am guessing we can fix my car for $1000 or so. My dad paints also, so i would only have to buy the paint and bondo and things like that

... they had to cut and re-weld a whole new quarter panel.
