Brakes lose pressure on hard braking
Has anyone had problems with their brakes? When i brake hard sometimes i can feel my brake pedal losing pressure. My mechanic did not see any leaks on the brake lines or brake cylinder reservoir. THe reservoir does not seeem to be losing fluid. My mechanic said it could be the abs cylinder that needs to be replaced. Do we need the abs unit to function in order to have pressure to the brakes? Are they directly connected to eachother?
is this under normal usage or is this after braking hard a couple times? if so, your brake lines are heating up so much that the rubber lines expand allowing more fluid to enter and making them squishy
THis is under normal use, I feel it even when i just start the car and i brake hard. Its an on and off thing, sometimes it has a lot of pressure sometimes theres not enough. Im just scared, that one day i might lose all pressure in the system, but i need to find out what the problem is.

master cylinder is bad if it leaks, brake fade can be caused by a few things, glazed pads, water in fluid, air in fluid... etc. also you could be experiencing line expansion like said before. it doesn't take much for brake fluid to get hot because as soon as you put anything under pressure it heats up like crazy. best thing to do, get the brake fluid flushed. if that doesn't work, change pads and turn rotors or replace. if that doesn't work, try some stainless braided lines. abs is a secondary system that doesn't interfer with brake pressure, until it notices a lock up occur ofcourse. i'd say try all that stuff. if one thing doesn't work, its ok, cause at least you're spending money on something that probably needs done anyways.
when flushing an abs system, or any brakes for that matter but especially on abs systems, theres a very specific method of doing so. find out the procedure and follow it, or take it to someone that will follow it.
