well i was under my dash lookin at my alarm system today.. ignition was tured on but car wasnt started.. saw my ecu throwing some flashes.. help me figure out what they are..

7, 8, 1, 2.. no solid lights.. just flashes.. i tried OBD0 ecu codes under search and didnt find anything..

also should it pause at some poing, cuz i think it pauses after 8.. but if u need me to check again, i will

please help me, thanx!!!

EDIT: heres the pics of my ecu under my driverside dash, u can see the pedals on a couple of them, and yes my cars an automatic.. so dont flame, its my first car, but here...

so is this code 2 mean a bad ecu or something?

ya.. it works fine.. but ive also kinda notice that around 35-40, it sticks when i press the gas.. then i start going faster, then it jumps up to 40 from 35.. its weird but i dont know if its cuz of moisture or what..

did i read the codes right, or should some of the numbers be together..?

 

ok, i just turned the car off and back on again.. heres what i got..

1 pause 2 pause 7 pause 8 pause then sequence started over again..

k, it said that my ecu would be under my passanger side carpet.. well its not.. its under my driver side dash.. with the circle thingy facing down.. hmm dont know why.. but heres what i got..

1 - Oxygen Sensor
2 - ??????????????
7 - Throttle Angle
8 - TDC Position

i have no idea what 2 is.. anybody know?

the ecu is what they show? a big gold'ish coloured metal box?

and you don't get any check engine lights?

ya, i can take a picture of it if u'd like me to.. but its under the driver side dash.. no check engine lights on either.. but g2ic said it was suposed to be under the passanger side carpet for the 90-91 models.. so i dont know

try a different pr4 pre-obd(obd0) ecu. please, take pictures, I HAVE to see this.

if its under your drivers side its not the ecu. the ecu is under the passenger foot area. that might be something else. is yours 2 door or 4 door?

 

its a 2 door.. but i thought the ecu is the thing that has that round circle that flashes red when codes come up.. and its in a small bronze case?

 

that's your ecu in the pics you posted.....nothing else quite resembles that.......odd that it's under you foot pedals....usually found under the passenger side kickplate on the floor under the dash (at least in the manual tegs, maybe it's different for automatics).
Anyway, about your problem with the codes. There is such thing as intermittent codes when the ecu puts out a different code each time it's reset or puts out the wrong codes....I've found this to usually result from a ecu that has gone bad or a grounding short in the electrical.....which also might explain your speedo problem. Shorts/grounding problems can make your electrical and car do some weird things and it's not uncommon in the da.

do us a favor and pull back the carpet on the passenger foot area. if there's a plate there with 4 nuts then thats the ecu. i might be wrong but i thought ALL da9's ecu were under the passenger side. if anything that might be a computer for the automatic. let us know what you find

 

I assumed you checked under your passenger side carpet and kick plate, also it will have "pr4" marked along the side of it. But for sure check under the passenger side just to make sure.

yup, theres a kick plate with 4 nuts on it, and it says pr4 and it also has a bunch of wires commin from it..

heres a dumb quesiton.. its not possible for a car to have 2 ecu's, is it?

cuz then i wanna know what the hell is that under the dash...

guess ill have to take off the kick plate and take some pics for you guys.. ill do that later today..

 

then the computer under your drivers side is something else. its probably something with the automatic, or possibly an alarm.

 

don't the automatics have an external transmission control?

 

thats the tcm( transmission control module)

 

so then if thats throwing flashes, are thoes codes for the transmission? and does anyone know where i could get these checked at or how i can find out what it means..?
