Default what would make a theif steal a car?

i know there's many ways to prevent ur car from getting stolen, but wut about ways to make it less of a target?

pimped out rides, stock cars, cars on personal webpages with everything about it mentioned on the site or cars with no alarm what so ever. these are the only things i can think of that might be average if not a good target for a theif, but what are they aiming for? is there anything we can do to make our cars not attractive to theives if not less? please post your suggestions and/or ideas. it will benefit everyone on HT

please do not post but PM instead if it is something that a theif should best not know how to do or whatever.

thanks everyone.

Even when I had my 89 Crx Si STOCK, I mean no mods other than a gutted cat.

It was stolen within 2 months and they took the doors and fenders and punch nails into my engine because they felt like it

Any mods at all and they will go for it, but the more you hide the better you are.

They look into your window and see a deck and a tach, but the guy down the road has a turbo timer, jdm recaros and spoon cluster of course they will go for it.

Doesnt matter how far you go for theft deterants, if they want it and are good they will get it .

BUt obviously theyd rather go after the score where they can net the most money or valuable parts for the least ammount of risk or chances of the cars security wasting time and getting in the way.

hmm good question... IMO it all comes down to parts.. in my area a EG hatch-e is alwayz a prime target.. stock interior/exterior parts catch alot of interest.. Rims make it even hotter... everyone knows a 2000 Si is hot,, but lets say u smack Si's rims on a hatch.. that car will be a hot potato, just for the oem parts.. from what i have seen. a theif usally doesn't steal a car for money,, more for the parts, suspension, doors, windows, cluster, etc... in my area its almost common to see a civic with 3 different colors on it.... its a pain,, the cleaner your car is.. the more a theif will want it.. they wont take it inless u make it easy for them.. most people get there cars stolen when they park on the street, i've heard stories of. thats odd my alarm has been going off for a whole week b4 it got stolen. go fig.. or some how my rims got loose and i had to tighten them. and my car got stolen later.. just keep a eye on your car, because someone else probably is..

When you have all kinds of scanning lights, multicolor LED's, and lasers shooting around your car...that just tells a thief that you probly have alot to steal. And also that you probly spent more on the lights then you did the alarm. Use one or two LED's and have them placed in a visable spot. You don't need 4 Flashing lights in each A piller, that draws the wrong type of attention to your vehicle.
