Default 99-00 Civic Si Transmissions

Hey everyone,

I'm looking at picking up a 99 Si. The guy is saying it's an auto trans tho? I thought they were only available with a manual trans? Anyone know if they were only available with manual trans? Or was auto an option?

Thanks for the help...

they were only available in manual. Hes probably trying to drive up the price calling it an Si, when its probably an EX. Also check to see if the headrests have holes them. Also, the obvious DOHC VTEC under the hood, rear discs, gauge cluster. There are quite a few "tells" between an Si and the other models.
Go take a close look at the car.

Thanks. I haven't had a chance to go look at the car yet. I'm sure it'll turn out to be an EX. Thanks again!

Is it a Canadian Si? If it is, its actually and EX. Canadian Si= US EX, Canadian SiR = US Si.

Also, no USDM b16a's were ever released in automatic.

I'm in California, so it's USDM. I haven't been able to see the car yet, so I'm assuming it's an EX that he SAYS is an Si. Either that, or he doesn't know the diff between an auto or manual trans... lol...

I am sure even if the guy did that big waste of time and money you still wouldn't be able to use the manuel B16 cams on an LS motor. Dont quote me, but I am pretty sure on that.

i woudl like to see some pics my guess is its a si shell wit a different motor. Check the number on the head, tranny, and block along with the normal VIN, this all sounds kinda shady

yes check the vin for sure. the 4, 5, and 6th digits of the vin should be EM1, respectively.

just look at the motor...if its SOHC u know it aint a SI cuz no d series trannies will bolt to a b series block...so most likely the car is a EX or the likes....SI's only came with the manual tranny

read that post again....im not understanding basically u say a look at motor discover d series and find it wont fit to a b series block this just means there is no b series ...do what i said again

block, tranny, and normal VIN report those numbers on here and we can carfax and tell u what the deal is with the car

Did you post on the wrong thread? This was way off topic? And to put your mind at ease, manual b16 cams do not work in a ls motor!
