Idle question....
hi i was having problem with the idle on my car... it would dip very low on occasion when i would be at a stop or a light... my mechanic took a look at it and said it wasnt the oxygen sensor, so what he did was adjusted the throttle body so it would rev more and not dip as much. my question to is : if my car is reving at close to 2,000rpm at idle constantly cause he adjusted the throttle some, does it cause damage to my engine? will my mpg go down? any info on what my problem may be?
if your mechanic set the idle to 2k then i say find a new mechanic. going around the problem will only make it worse in the end.
if your car only bogs at idle check your IACV, clean it out and then see how she is running.
and higher RPM means its burning more gas more often so yes, you will lower your MPG
EDIT : dont try to type and eat a sammich at the same time
