Default ECU not sending signal to #4 cylinder, would getting it chipped fix prob??

Just a question I was wondering about. My ECU messed up somehoe (have no idea how) but its not sending signal to the #4 cylinder fuel injector to fire. I swapped my friends ECU in and it worked fine. Im going to make sure it wasn't just a bad connection to the ecu at the plug tomorrow but would getting my current ECU chipped possibly remedy my problem. I guess what im trying to ask is if my current chip went bad and putting a new one in would help. I really dont know anything about ECU's or how they work. So any advice about this subject or any possible fixes are greatly welcome. thanx

I doubt another chip would help. I think the injector driver in the ecu is broken, so regardless of if you get it rechipped or not, it probably won't do you any good. Just my theory, I'm sure one of the several ecu experts on here will provide you better info.

Is it possible just to replace the injector driver? Like i said in my original post. I have no idea about the workings of the ecu

I don't think that it is a replaceable part. It might be, but it just might be easier to get another ecu for your car. I would double check the wiring again too make sure that that isn't the cause of your problem.

If it is an OBD-1 ECU I have spare injector drivers. If you can solder, I can sell you one, or if you wanted to ship your ECU to me I could replace it and test your ECU for $35.00 plus return shipping.
