Default The strength of bondo?

I am considering picking up an Integra pretty soon but the problem is, the current owner shaved the side moldings, antenna, and emblems using bondo. If I remember correctly, the antenna hole is pretty damn big but the side molding and emblem holes aren't too big. He used bondo to shave it and his friend "used something on the back to support it". Well, I'm not going to count on whatever was used to "support it". Is bondo strong enough to hold its own or would it eventually start cracking or cave in?

Thanks!

I used bondo as well to shave my side mouldings, if he just layerred bondo in there like the 3/4" then I wouldnt buy it. But I spot welded a very thin peiece of sheet metal acrooss and about 1/8" of bondo to make it smooth.

I also did the antenna and rear wiper, all held up great. Im sure itll eventually crack but none so far and it looks great for cheap

Well on the Integra side moldings... you just pull them off and fill in the holes, no? They're not like Civics with a huge indent.

Thanks for the replies!

Well, there is no indent. It's just holes that were filled with bondo. The only one I'm really worried about is the antenna hole since that one is pretty big.

Im sure that there would be some kind of backing if it was a big hole because when you apply bondo is a soft past and you cant just cover a hole becuase it drops down, there has to be some sort of backing.

I used very thin sheet metal or a layer of fiberglass before filling any holes at all

Yeah, I'm sure there's something backing it but the question is, what is it? The guy said his friend did it... maybe it was sheet metal spot welded? *shrug* I'm going to go take a look at it today.

Thanks for the replies.
