Default '99 H22 Prelude Turbo Problem

My bro and I just installed a turbo on our '99 Prelude and we're having problems with the map sensor seeing boost. We installed the "missing link" but according to the VTEC controller when the pressure in the manifold goes positive (at about 5-6psi) the engine begins to hesitate.

Here's what we've done. We've installed the missing link with open side down and the side with the small pin hole facing up. We then put the MAP sensor on top of that. My question is that there is an open port (nozzle) on the front side of the missing link. Should this be connected to anything (check valves or left wide open) or should this hole be plugged up?

We've also got a set of adjustable cams on the car. Should we reset these to 0 degrees / 0 degrees? I believe it's currently set to +2 degrees / 0 degrees. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
