Default Brake Fluid - okay to mix Honda w/ ATE Superblue

Don't feel like draining the whole system since I just did it a few weeks ago. Was wondering if I can just drain the main reservior and just add superblue for the upcoming event....I figure I'll use some up on track, just add some more superblue and it'll eventually run out of Honda fluid

Your car will burst into flames if you do that. Much like driving on Azenis in the rain.

I don't have a bottle of Honda fluid in front of me but I do have one of Super Blue and they mix fine if I recall correctly. If I don't recall correctly, see above.

You want the superblue fluid in the calipers, where the heat, and potential boiling point is....adding ATE to the top res and leaving old fluid in the calipers is defeating the purpose.

You need to do a complete flush.

They'll mix fine, but in this case, I would personally go ahead and bleed until you see blue exiting the calipers.

I don't know how much the two fluids will actually mix together, but if they did, it would reduce your overall fluid performance. It would probably take several of these half-fills to get you close to full-strength again. If you're not having a problem with the OEM fluid boiling though, I guess it's a non-issue.

Boy, D really needs to smack some sense into you.

Either flush the whole thing or don't bother. If you don't want to do it right now, just bring the ATE to Sebring and if you have any problems, we'll flush 'em there. One can should be plenty.

I have alternated between the ATE gold and blue fluids and it honestly doesn't take much to get the new color to the caliper. I just turkey-baste the fuild out of the res and then bleed until the new color comes through the bleed screws. You can mix any DOT 3/4 fluid you want.

We're gonna get there kinda late Friday, and staying at the Chateau Elan. I don't think I've met Eric. Do you know if he was going to come out to the track at all?

I think my lady friend might take exception to sharing the room.

I think I know which fleabag motel you're talking about, too. I stayed there in January. The heat didn't work too good, but at least the cable did.
