Default What would cause my car to vibrate around 60mph?

Yesterday I balanced my wheels since last time I did it I used some crappy Snap-On machine which I think was giving me wrong readings. So I did it yesterday after work and than took it to the highway for a drive. It still vibrates. So now I'm thinking it is probably like worn bushings or something. What would cause this?

Its not like the whole car is shaking but rather just a vibration in the steering wheel.

are your rims straight? the slightest little bend can cause that

Misalignment, uneven tire wear, loose lugnuts, bad bushings in the lca, and upper control arm. Your best bet would be to take off your front wheels, and take a look a the tires, then the rest of your suspension setup. Good luck.

Check your axle nuts.

Bad engine mount would be my guess. My friend had this happen in his AE86, when he changed his engine mount, the other was cracked.

My rims are fine, I've never hit a curb or anything and I just balanced them yesterday and there was no visible shaking. I always torque my wheels down with a torque wrench or a torque stick and either way it never solves the problem.

It could possibly be the alignment since its been 2 years since I've had one but we have a machine at work that you can drive up on and it will test your alignment such as your toe and all that stuff and it said my car was fine.

I should check the bushings though.

Axle nuts were torqued down when I did my swap and they we notched so there is no way they could have gotten loose. And my axles aren't old and they still have the balancer on them.

My mounts were fine when I did my swap so I don't think they are even bad at all.

I think I will probably go with alignment or bushings. I guess I can put it up on the rack some time and check my alignment.
