Intake Resonator Question
This is kind of an obscure question, but I read that Honda engineers designed the intake resonator for the Integra Type-R's differently than other Hondas. In most (all that I have seen) Honda cars, the intake resonator tube is routed toward the engine bay so that it sucks up hot air (very dumb design). But I read that for the Type-R Integras, they actually routed the tube so that it sucks up cooler air from the outside. I figured a bunch of you guys probably removed your resonators, so you might know. Is this true?
the resonator is mounted behind the bumper, under the passenger side fender. its connected from the bottom of the air box. only air the engine breathes come through the resonator and the air box, nothing get taken from the engine bay
So I gather the intake tube is routed outside. Most Honda cars do have resonators in the wheel well, but the intake tube is stupidly routed back up to the engine bay where it sucks up hot air. The hot air then goes down to the resonator in the wheel well and then back through the connected airbox. Does anybody have a pic of the type-R resonator or know where I can see it? Thanks.

Thanks. That was very helpful. It's such a simple little change, makes me wonder why Honda didn't do that for all it's cars. I plan on modding my car to do that. Better performance, w/o the loud noise.

Yep. The Icebox is as quiet as stock with better performance.
