Should I pick up this 01' S2K?
Found this 2001 S2K the other day that had close to 47.. close to 50k miles on it already. Clear title by carfax. No apparent bodywork has been done it, told by the dealer and inspected closely by myself. Engine bay is nice and clean and everything is stock, closely inspected as well. Tires are stock ones (not the originals of course). No dents or door dings. The engine pulls harder than my ITR, but I wasn't able to bring it up to warp speed, higher vtec range. The price is firm at 21k and won't go any lower. Would I be getting raped here? What are some other places on the car I should check (besides fluids and plugs). The car was a repo and I don't THINK it was a kid that owned it.. hopefully. No signs of a kit or anything. At around this milleage, what are some common problems I could see or could occur? And if this is too high.. how much SHOULD this go for. What do used 2001's go for btw. What are your guys thoughts? Thanks.
I will be selling my 2001 S2000 in August, has 18,000 miles on it and I will give you all the extra parts that I have not even used: an extra set of rims, a brand new Amuse front lip, brand new K&n CAI in the box and a brand new soft top installed just a month ago.
Completely stock, well taken care of and looking to get 24k for it...
I'm in SD also....

There you go. Perfect example of what I was talking about. Sounds like a great car..

Thats an awesome deal.. and I will keep your offer into consideration.. in the future.. But I actually needed a car now because.. how should I say, my ITR is being targeted. I would like to see your car sometime though. I'd like to ask also, why do people sell their S2k's.. and 01? You have all those parts too.
again, Is 21k for the 2001 too high?

I don't think 21k for a low-mileage, clean titled s2000's too high, but for the one you're looking at, yes. I'd definately keep looking if I were you. you should buy the guy's silverstone above, sounds like a good deal

-Put down a $100 holding payment to not sell it..</TD></TR></TABLE>
I paid 22785 for a 2000 with 23K on it.

Targeted? Targeted by theives? Store the car in a safe place for now. I really don't get why you would rush into buying this higher mileage S2k when there are lower mileage and better deals around, like the one mentioned above.

im cancelling
After thinking for a couple hours, i've made my decision.
WAIT 2-3 months in search of the best deal on a used s2. not a brand new one...
or..
WAIT 6 months and get a brand new 330ci. Both choices being better than the 21k s2000. Thanks for your thouhts.

I got my 2002 with 5600 miles for $22,500.
That was a pretty good deal. I'm sure if you keep an eye out you can find something close. There are lots of s2k owners out there that use it as a #2 car... so there must be a lot of low mileage ones out there.

I just bought one...
Yesterday I was at the dealer and this bright red 01 with 17k catches my eye. The dealer wants 26,995 for it. I walk away and say I wouldn't pay over 23.5 for that and he says hold on, he'll get the manager. I stay at the dealer for two hours and I walk out the door paying 24,045 out the door with a 5yr/75k warranty. I'm pretty happy now
Do you guys think it was an alright deal?

From a dealer, I do think it's a good deal. 17k isn't that many miles, and Red is such a nice color. Warranty is great too.
Eddie. - who's looking for an S2000 as well.

The dealers love the people that pay more than the car is actually worth. I cant stand to see people getting overcharged. On a more positive note though, you only over paid by a little, and I dont think the extra 500-800 is going to be worth not having a smile on your face.
Congrats

i agree..although owning a red s2000 takes a ton of work keeping clean. even the tiniest scratch, and swirl stick out like a sore thumb.
congrats on the S.

Correct, but I'm sure Black is the hardest to keep clean. It gathers dust like a ****. Well through my experiences.
