Default Body Rust Fix

Alright, I have a spot about the size of a baseball of rust on my door, just surface, I need to know what to do to get rid of it. I know to sand down to metal but using what grit? Anyone have a walkthrough to this. ALso in 2 months I have my time booked at the body shop to get new rear quarters panels welded on ( I cant wait ) But the rust is getting pretty bad like most honda's and I am getting very annoyed at looking at it daily, anyone have a walkthrough of a quick fix for the time being. ANy help greatly appreciated!

I would use 36 grit on a small air grinder. (Just try to keep the surface level dont dig in to the metal or nothin.) Then use 180 on a dual action sander to knock down the lip of the paint around the area. Just try to get the diff layers of paint to kinda fade out so you cant feel the transition.
