Default need some good advice

hey, this is my first post so i am sorry if i sound a litle bit confused.
I am in the process of buying a 90 honda civic dx hatchback, that has no motor in it. I am getting it for about 500 cdn. What would be the best replacemnt motor to put in the car, and an apprx cost? I would be installing the motor myself. In the future i would like to put some more modifications on the car but for the next 2-3 months it will just be whatever motor i put in it. Anysuggestios and why you think this motor would be best? Also i dont have too much money either.
Thanks very much for the help, and this looks like a great board to beacome a member of.

a y8 swap is your cheapest and best bang motor
my motor was was just under $1500 BUT i got new drive shafts, new seals all around the motor, p28 ecu, obd conversion, new cltuch etc..

plus its a striaght bolt in and you can use the stock tranny as well to reduce the cost
