Carlsbad: VW vs. Imports event
i went got there late didnt get a chance to run
, sad thing is i live less then 2 miles away
....i was about to post a new thread about this right now but u beat me to it
, anyways i saw alot of imports fast ones at that. My buddie's got 1st (100bucks) and 2nd(75bucks) place in the bracket racing. Other then that i was way to late i did see alot of trailor queen honda's so im pretty sure there were some fast times, but from what i hear and from what happend to my buddies alot of cars were having issues
. Like always the Vw's spanked on the honda's
but at least one did this....bags and hydros dont have **** on this

thanks for the replies. third year in a row where i missed this event as a spectator and as a participant
i didn't think there would be a good turnout since this weekend was IAS and CMI. i missed a good one, damn it.

it rained a couple of times last week, and the traction just wasn't there.
i shot an hour's worth of video, including that killer wheelie shot that nerologic just posted... there were some fast hondas, but there were a lot of broken hondas as well.
the fwd bracket class had a couple of water-cooled vw's in final round, of all things! never seen that before at that event... or any open fwd event, for that matter.
a honda probably would have gotten the burnout contest award, but this guy with an old 280z came out and burned everybody down.
i'd like to post some honda vids, but it'll be a few weeks before i can get to it.

I was there in my blue si. Traction is always an issue at Carlsbad and thats why a better burnout will always help keeping the slicks hot and sticky. I have some video's of my car smoking some of the VW's and other Imports that were there
. I wasn't lucky enough to go against any of the fast cars like Scottie in his SKR EF. I saw him having some traction problems too. All in all was fun, got in 12 runs, so i can't complain.
p.s. Scottie....I will get that SI seat from you one of these days, aight!

This is Scott, SI seat?????????
I had fun at the event, I was sick all week and didn't think I was going to make it. I worked all day Saturday(sick as hell) on my car and finished it on Sunday morning before the event, I seriously didn't think i was going to make it in time.
The best I pass I made was a 11.37@127.5 missing 2nd gear. I had tranny issues all day and didn't get one clean pass.
About the only thing I got to show for it was a 2 dollar plastic trophy for fastest fwd and a sun burn
Id like to thank VW Paradise and the whole Lauffer family for throwing the event for us.
