ac conversion
Theres nothing special about it except for now youll be able to get your a/c pretty much serviced anywhere and it should be alot cheaper since r12 is def. not as abundent nor no where near the price it used to be.
about the same...just remember that when you install the new fittings to take out the schroeder valves that are in the tubes on the car. if you put the fitting on top of teh old one it will bend and then it is hard to reload the system or it leaks.
r134a conversion is easy to do . its just proceedure. if you follow the steps i give you you should be ok . thats if you wanna save some money and do it yourself.
#1 make sure you whare eye protection . evacuate the sytem if you can save the r12 do its madd $$$$ you can sell it or help one of your boys out.
#2 take compressor out and drain it and clean it with acetone. also while your at it clean your whole system with acetone. just spray it in and blow it out . its a very good cleaner, drys quickly and does not leave a resadue. dont forget the condensor.
#3 make sure you replace all the 0 rings in the system when putting the o rings in place the area your working on needs to very clean apply oil on the 0 rings for proper seating
#4 put the new r134a adapters on an put the proper oil in the compressor attach all lines without over tightning
#5 (optional) if you have the proper equipment vacume the system for a 30-45 min then if you find by looking at the gauges if you have any look for good vacume
#6 turn off the gauges low and high side. keeping the vacume locked. if you notice the gauges moving after its locked down you have leaks.
#7 if no leaks are detected hook up your r134a
to the input line and turn on the car and the ac and shoot it up with 30 - 40 lb cold side 200 - 250 the hotter the weather is the hotter the high side will be. good luck any ? let me know
