TEIN RA's = soso?
I bought an s2k w/ the TEIN's - I'm just not feeling them - seems a bit rough on my daily 25 miles commute. Thinking about trading them or selling them.
Anyone have opinions or same setup. I've dialed them in soft and hard - some parts of the 405 (la freeway) is just making me sick....
suggestions?

which teins do u have.....and how much r u selling them for??? what kinda of condition and do u have pics...im interested in buying if the price is right...
When I was running the RS's (similar valving, same spring rates) I thought the street drive was actually better. Currently running on stock suspension and 18s, the ride doesn't feel as dampened as it did with the tein and 18s. Maybe one or more of the shocks has lost it's valving or if they are used, the previous owner tracked/auto-x'd the hell out of them

Tien USA does rebuilds and offers optional rates. Personally I like the Billstein PA-9 (?) - memory loss.
Some people swear buy the factory shocks in which case the RSR ti2000 springs would be better. like the name implies they are ti based construction and the lightness and lower coil count makes them very responsive.

According to the guys who track the S2000 quite a bit, they don't look too fondly on the ~$1500 coilovers. Stock or go big bucks is their usual recommendation.
Perhaps you should consider other run-of-the-mill coilovers? H&R. Bilstein PSS9. Et cetera.

Sure some are.
Look at Tein Basic. Tein flex isn't aimed at a full race setup either.
Tein is mostly for name.

i have ridden in many other s2k with another setup - so if anyone wants to meet in oc for lunch or whatever - i'm buying - just give me a ride - vice versa

- whats weird is that it appears (from looking on tein website) that the FLEX kit has the STIFFEST springs... this gets me confused...

I was looking at that the other day while on the phone with Dynamic. The Flex has stiffer springs in the rear. Most likely the valving is different.

- my friend just got the TEIN CS (lowest tein coilover) and he still has a finger gap with the coils all the way down..

I have the TEIN CS coilovers on my S2000 and i drive about 40+ miles a day on the 405, 22, and 57 freeway. The coilovers are on full stiffness and the ride is barely stiffer than stock.
These coilovers might be a good choice for you since the spring rates are so much lower than the RA's, they're ideal for daily driving....

You have to be smart about what you need
Currently I have tien ss for the 89-91 crx on a 90 DA. If my car was stock weight they would suck since the DA has much longer rear springs so even at full height the rear would be dumped. However since the car weighs 400 #'s less it's actually perfect height with another 2in of room to go.
It might seem odd but the shorter springs actually are much more responsive and I get a lighter suspension feel. IE no jaring even in a dumped car.
Luckily my freind had some extra 550 f 400 r springs for me to try and without the sway bars it's damn near perfect.
I'm having them rebuilt with camber plates in mind and 205 r14 RA-1 tires on a 14x7 in rim that's being released soon.
Anyway the point being is they will have tremendous grip, smooth ride and the car at 10% over goes into 4 wheel drift with the azenis which is a very safe place to be.
Anyway the point being is I knew what I wanted with a realistic height setting for the street with the tires factored in and made a relatively cheap and soft set up work.
Billstein has a daily driver coilover set up that's also awesome during track driving.
"full coilover suspension arent made for comfort"
They are exactly made for comfort, in that they are supposed to be a perfectly
matched spring and shock
they are supposed to be the ultimate comfort in that aspect IE if you have track springs you have a dampener setting that react quickly and smoothly enough to even it out.

- heard they are good, and it seems that they give the lowest drop (vs. all the other coilovers)
- I ordered mine and should be here in two weeks, I will let you know....
