Default i have a 10w6 need help!!!!!!!

i have a 10 w6 jl audio subwoofer on an alpine v12 1005 amplifier getting approx 600rms bridged

its tuned by a coustic xm-6 and run from an alpine h/u

it sounds like ****!!!!!!

no matter how i tune it it doesn't sound good, im not sure why, i have positive to positive on both coils, tried it without the exover and it makes little difference

the bass sounds boomy

im wondering if its the crappy ported box i got it with

what size box for a single 10 inch w6??

should i just sell it and use a single l7?

oh yes i think i hae charging issues my battery goes dead quickly and the lights dim when the bass hits

i'll check the voltage, do you think upgrading battery or adding a cap will help? or a bigger alt?

bigger alt would solve the charging

your box may be the problem though, I went form sealed to ported myself and cant wait to hear the difference

read the spec sheet it will give you different enclosure types and the sq ft that you need.

Personally I like sealed better but thats on you. It will take care of your "boomy" problems.

how big is your box right now? for sealed, i would recommend 1.2 cubic feet. for ported, i would recomend 1.6 cubic feet tuned to 28hz.

Somebody please correct me if I am wrong, but if you have it hooked up from positive to positive, you are going for parallel wirin, so shouldn't neative be hooked up to negative?

the amp doesn't like it when u have one coil hooked up? that's odd. If anything, it should only be quieter and the amp should like it more since there are more resistance.

I'm guessing its your box. my 10w6s before i sold them sounded great to me. my box was small, but it was nice for what it was. lol

if you have a w6v1, i STRONGLY recommend a SMALL SEALED BOX, or it will sound HORRIBLE.

smaller sealed box will yield a boomier sound and you'll get peaky response. Unless that's what you consider sounding good..
