Default 96 Civic Install

I can't find what I'm looking for through search.

Right now I have an Alpine head unit in the standard location above my climate controls in my Civic. I'm looking to remove it and place it in the tape deck location above the cup holders. I need help in how to go about taking out the head unit. I have seen guides before with pictures, so if anyone has any pictures it would be greatly appreciated.

If you are trying to remove the alpine, take the face off and look at the sides of the radio. There will be to small round pieces, take a pick and move them both to the center and pull. The radio will come right out.

RTFM = read the ******* manual!!

Sorry, but I never understand why people don't start there first. The installation and uninstallation guides for most Apine Headunits can be found under the tech support section of their website. You must register to create an account, then you can download all the docs you need.

http://www.installdr.com to find out how to take the dash apart.

I didn't ask for the Alpine installation guide. Before you criticize, learn to read.

Please, save the lame comments for someone else - I can read just fine...you want to know how to uninstall the alpine - step one is starting over at Alpine where they show you how to do it....duh. Installdr.com will show you how to reinstall the factory headunit in that location, or take out the climatecontrol, etc so that you can patch up the hole.

You already have half the parts to install it in the lower location - all you need is the proper face plate and the pair of brackets so you can ISO mount it.

got to hondaautomotiveparts.com and you will find the parts diagrams online to help you order the parts you need. A search over at clubsi.com in the general section will find a thread listing the part numbers.

It's not that difficult - but guess what - it will take some level of work on your part.

I know you want some one to spoon feed you and hand you a document that will lay out the whole process for you and everything, but that doesn't always exist...

Actually, if you don't mind having a 1/8" ~ 1/4" gap on either side of your radio you can just ISO mount it as is down below. Take apart the center console to get down to the tape player location, and take that hole tape player/cup holder assembly out. remove the 4 screws holding the tape player, remove tape player, slide alpine in without using the alpine cage, and re-insert screws from tape player (or use the screws that came with the alpine) to hold the alpine in place. reassemble.

I finished it last night. It took about an hour or so with cleaning. Looks good, just waiting on my plastic plate to come in then I'll post some pictures.
