Amps Turn On, Subs not moving
Well I got my system wired up and when I turn my key over and turn on the deck.
The amp power lights go on, but Im only getting sound from the speakers.
I dont know maybe I did the RCA's wrong but there is a harness with 4 rca connectors coming out of the back of the headunit and they say RF/RR/LF/LR
Is there a way to mess up wiring the subs inverted? They go from + on one side to + on the other and into the - terminal of the amp, and vice verca ( - , - , + )
Any help apprectiated. How do you guys attach your power cable to your battery?

I cant imagine messing up hooking the rca's up... only thing I can think of off the top of my head is.. look at the amp settings making sure its not set low so that you can hear it, and check if the the connects from the amp to the sub are correct..

hmm, about the rca's.. are you sure theres not a input on the back of the deck? cuz on my old sony deck, they had rear/front/imput rca's.. also check and make sure that nothing sharp cut ur rca cable from ur deck to the back..

Theres no imput built right into the back of the deck
Theres 3 harnesses with clip in, ones go the power and ground and such, 2nd has the 8 wires for all the speakers and the third has 2 red and 2 white rca female connectors and the remote blue/white wire
Rca wire is fine, not cut, I am using a Y cable though, I dunno if thatll make the difference

hmm that could be the problem.. but not sure, i've heard of the Y cable splitters bringing down the Fq. of the signal but not sure if it'd cause it to not work/send a signal...
bump... we need some more help in here..
also you can try to take off the Y cables and hooking it up directly.... also another thing, i just looked on one of my amps and there was a input set of rca's on my amp.. im guessing so i cab bridge with another amp.. not sure if you'd have this but u might check!!

it sounds like you MIGHT be an i.c.e. no0b...if your amp has a fuse...check it. make sure your system doesn't go onto 'protect mode'. if your amp doesn't have a fuse...turn the system on VERY low...i'm talking VERY low. Take a test light on put it on the outputs on the amp (positive and negative). it should light up if the amp is giving output. if it does, ur sub might be gon. take some other speakers and test them on the outputs. if there's no output, go over the entire system again and make sure everything is wired properly. check the manual for the amp. smell the amp make sure it doesnt smell burnt. i've had a similar problem on an install i did before. it turns out that the outputs on the amp were burnt. i had to get it rebuilt.

Everything for this install was brand new
Im gonna borrow a set ofmy friends RCA's tonight to see if I hook them up directly if itll work
And also there is only an 1 input for the rcas on the amps so you can bridge them or whatever, but I thought my headunit only had 1 output so I bought 1 set of rcas and the y splitters
Hopefully thats the problem, I also may not have my power wire connected properly, Theres a bolt that closes the connector on my positive connector. I took out the bolt and it expanded and I stuck the ring in and put the bolt back through and tightenned it up, I can do that right?

Just make sure that the power wire runs straight from battery (and it has good contact with the post) and that it's getting good strength up to the amp, again, a test light will come in handy and it's cheap!

question: how many outputs are there FROM the deck and how many inputs on the amp? try doing it w/out bridging the rcas. just use one rca straight from the deck output to the amp input. oh yeah...if you have a deck like the alpines, you need to turn up the output signal...READ YOUR MANUALS!!!
Pictures would help.
Are you sure you don't have both the RCA inputs connected AND the "high input" connected? There should only be 5 basic connections.
1) Power (duh?)
2) Ground
3) Remote
4) Input (either RCA's from head unit, or "high input" from splincing into the speakers themselves)
5) Speakers
That's all to it.
